W.C. Swaffar born May 3, 1930 , passed away at the age of 80, at his home in Guy on Monday, June 28, 2010. He was the son of Elmer P. Swaffar and Thelma Trawick Swaffar, of Conway. W.C. graduated from Conway high School and attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA). He was employed by the Conway Printing Company/Log Cabin Democrat for several years. He served as Business and Advertising Manager for Arkansas Industrial Development Commission and later was manager of Graphic Communications, a Little Rock printing company, owned by Winthrop Rockefeller. He operated a typesetting company in Little Rock, with branches in Shreveport, Louisiana and Jackson, Mississippi. He served in the Army National Guard and was called for active duty during the Central High crisis in 1957. He retired with the rank of Major. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eddie Linn Swaffar. He is survived by his wife, Frances, his sons Steven Swaffar of Sherwood, Charles Swaffar of Springfield, and Mike Hilman of Conway; daughters, Karen Wilson of Guy and Melanie Cisler of Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Elmer Joe Swaffar and Melanie Cumnock, the mother of his children. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway with Pastor Jim Sanders officiating. Entombment will be in Crestlawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday. Pallbearers will be Charlie Joe Swaffar, Nathan Swaffar, Dustin Swaffar, Wesley Glover, Dylan Wilson, Steven Swaffar.
