Betty Ruth Etheridge Morse

Betty Ruth Etheridge Morse died on June 23, 2010 in Vancouver, Wash. She was predeceased by her husband, James Whitcomb Morse; her parents, George and Winnie Etheridge of Hamburg; and her sister, Lois Etheridge Gragg of Helena. Betty is survived by her son Roger; his wife Carol; and grandchildren, Noelle and Trevor of Vancouver, Wash. She is also survived by her daughter Pat of Texas and grandchildren Michelle and Brooke Staton of Conway and three great-grandchildren. Also, by her brother George Etheridge of Kountz, Texas; her sister Aline Mobley of Batesville, her sister Rebecca Hawley of Hot Springs, and many nieces and nephews. Betty was an honor graduate of Crossett High School. She graduated from the University of Arkansas and received her PHD from Kansas State University. Betty's chosen field was home economics and she received many honors in this area. She was the National President of the Future Homemaker's of America and taught at the University of Central Arkansas, University of West Florida and the University of California, Long Beach. Betty was the consummate hostess with Jim doing the cooking and Betty doing the entertaining. A meal in their home was a grand event which was enjoyed by many, many friends throughout the years. She was a generous, loving person who lit up a room when she entered. She will continue to be loved and missed by all that had the joy of knowing her. Betty will be joining Jim at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Cemetery in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
