Donald M. Browning

Donald M. Browning passed away after a year long battle with cancer in Hemet, Calif. on June 27, 2010 at the age of 75. He was born March 15, 1935 in Reydell, Ark. to Naldy and Nancy Browning. He played football for DeWitt High School and graduated in 1954. He married Barbara Hartsfield of Conway, Ark. who was a teacher in DeWitt. He moved to Arizona where he raised two children, managing a trading post on the Navajo reservation and then working as a meat cutter in the White Mountains. Subsequently, he moved to Hemet, Calif. in 1983, where he managed The Ranch, a group home caring for troubled teen girls. Donald is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; daughter and husband, Beth and Chris Jones of Chicago; son and wife, Mac and Erika Browning, of West Asia; four grandchildren, Rebekah Wortzman of Los Angeles, Stephen Jones of Chicago, Josiah and Michaela Browning of West Asia; two sisters, Novella Pool of Fenton, Mo. and Priscilla Hamilton of DeWitt, Ark.; many nieces and nephews, and over 1000 young women who lovingly called him Uncle Don. Donald's family and friends will be celebrating his life at First Christian Church in DeWitt, AR on July 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wycliffe would be appreciated.
