Gloria D. Long

Gloria D. Long, 75, of Austin died Thursday, July 1, 2010. She was born July 6, 1934 to the late Salathiel and Juanita DeRusse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Roy. Mrs. Long graduated and received her degree in Wichita, Kan., in 1991. She dedicated her career to caring for the elderly and handicapped. She was well known for her caring, dedication and compassion for those in need, but above all she was a devoted mother, who excelled in sharing her love with her children. She is survived by her brother David and Joyce DeRusse of Jacksonville; daughters, Gloria and William Howell of St. Petersburg, Fla., Glenda and David Mayo of Peru, Maine, Nina and David Davis of Augusta, Kan., Leeann Long and Tammy of Grand Forks, N.D.; sons, Alvin and Luwanda Franks of Cabot, Alfred Franks Jr. (Bucky) of Austin; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, in the Chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.
