Alma Maxine Pounds, 95, of Benton, passed away July 3, 2010. She was born Aug. 8, 1914 in Lunsford, Ark. to the late Alancin McFerrin and Annie Gibson Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ira Lynn Pounds; also by her brothers, J.P. Taylor, A. M. Taylor Jr., Berl Taylor, Kenneth Taylor and Dow Taylor, and one sister, Annetta Lucille Taylor. She is survived by her three daughters, Lynnda Maxine Canon and husband R. E. of Little Rock, Patricia Anne White and husband Curtis, of the home, Mary Dianne McHalffey and husband Clovis of Lunsford, Ark.; five cherished grandchildren, Lynnda Learon Gambill of Little Rock, Robert Edward Lee White of Puyallup, Wash., Carrie Anne Wade of Dardanelle, Ark., Michael Lynn McHalffey of Lunsford, Dinah Carol Jones of Temple, Texas and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Laura Juanita Grisham of Bay, Elsie Merle Harris of St. Charles, Mo. and Doris Kathleen Harrison of Rocklin, Calif., and 23 nieces and nephews. Ms. Pounds devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but above all she was devoted to her LORD, Jesus Christ. "Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her. There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise." Proverbs 31 Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
