Cleveland F. Smith, 75, of Ferndale, died July 4, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville & Omie Smith. Left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Smith; two daughters, Vicki Spears of Little Rock, Kathy Smith of Arkadelphia; one grandson, Jacob Spears and a host of young people who called him their "Poppa." This quiet, gentle man was loved by all who knew him. Cleveland was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force and was a great supporter of the military. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Razorback fan. He was a member of the Ferndale Hunting Club. Cleveland was a member of Teamsters Local 878 and road driver for ABF Freight Lines for 37 years. He drove over a million miles and was honored with numerous safety awards for never having an accident. He considered his greatest honor to have been chosen by his church family at Life Line Baptist Church to serve his Lord as a Deacon. He was ordained Aug. 20, 1989 by Dr. Tommy Cunningham. He continued serving as a Deacon and singing in the choir at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church until his death. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501)224-8300. The family requests memorials be made to Group Living, Inc., P. O.
