Melvin K. Jenkins of Sheridan, Arkansas went to meet the Lord on July 4th 2010. He was 82 years old and a very active person with the community. He is survived by his lovely wife, Mrs. Betty L. Lay Jenkins of Sheridan, and formerly of Arthurdale, W.Va., his daughter, Joyce M. Jenkins Mallory of Oceanside, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Ann Jenkins Pyles from Masontown, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Adam, Betsy, and Kahna, with five great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his little daughter Peggy L. Jenkins of Reedsville, W.Va., his father A.C. (Jenks) Jenkins of Masontown. W.Va., his mother, Mary Elizabeth (Lizzy) Walls Jenkins of Masontown, W.Va. and his brother, Willard C. Jenkins of Masontown, W.Va. He has been a long time member of the 1st Baptist Church of Sheridan, active member of the Gideons of Sheridan, and with the Lions Club, a 32 Degree Mason with Osiris Shrine of Wheeling, W.Va. and Pine Bluff, the V.F.W. Post 1589 of Masontown, W.Va. He served his country for three years in the U. S. Army as a Corp in the Military Police. He also worked as an Engineer for Rockwell (Sterling) for many years. He will be greatly missed by his wonderful friends and the community. A time of viewing will be held at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7th and His Memorial Service will be held at the 1st Baptist Church of Sheridan, Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on July 8th, with Brother Ray Franklin and Brother Jim Bradshaw officiating.
