Roy Owen Warford

Roy Owen Warford, 87, of Benton, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. He was born to Audy and Dovey Warford on November 13, 1922 in Lonsdale, Arkansas. Mr. Warford served in the South Pacific Theatre of World War II as a Technical Sergeant for the U. S. Army where he earned a Bronze Star as well as several other commendations. He was a life-long educator serving as a teacher, director of Civilian Conservative Camps for the US Forestry service, and a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Warford was a member and deacon of Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church in Lonsdale, and served as a Master Mason with both the Benton and Rockport Masonic lodges in Arkansas. He was an amazing man who touched countless lives over the course of his life. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He taught his family and those around him the way to have a successful daily walk with God. Though he will be missed tremendously by all, his family is at peace knowing he will be in Heaven waiting for them. Preceding him in death were his parents, Audy and Dovey Warford. Mr. Warford was survived in death by his wife of more than 61 years, Floye Warford of Benton; two sisters, Roma Carden and Audie Townsend both of Benton; one brother, Dr. Lloyd Warford of Bryant; two sons, Troy and Terry Warford both of Benton; one daughter and her husband, Roma and Mike Pedneau of Richmond, Kentucky; three grandsons and their wives, Adam and Amberlyn Warford; Jordan and Sarah Warford of Benton; Sam Pedneau of Richmond, Kentucky; one granddaughter and her husband, Leslie and Josh Brown of Louisville, Kentucky; two small great-granddaughters, Ainsley and Addison Warford both of Benton; one small great-grandson, Riley Brown of Louisville, Kentucky; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church in Lonsdale with burial at Fairplay Cemetery. On-line guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
