NAOMI CATHERINE JEWELL GILL, 82 of Little Rock peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2010. She was born Sept. 6, 1928 in Forest City, Ark. and later moved to West Memphis, Ark. She is the widow of the late Rev. Arnett L. Gill Sr., an AME Pastor and local businessman, and the sister to the late Dr. Jerry D. Jewell, Dentist and State Senator. She was a graduate of Arkansas AM&N College in Pine Bluff, Ark., a music major, and received a Masters Degree from Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA), Conway, Ark. She was a well known educator in the State of Arkansas and served in the Little Rock Public School system for 44 years as teacher at Gibbs Elementary, Rightsell Elementary, and Brady Elementary School. She later moved on and became Principal of Fair Park Elementary, and retired as an administrator in the Central Office for the Little Rock Public School System 1999. She is survived by her children, two daughters, Gladys R. Gill-Facen (Lloyd) and Alicia A. Gill; one son, Arnett L. Gill II (Theresa) and a host of relatives and friends. Home going services will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2010, 10 a.m., at Union AME Church, 1825 Pulaski St. LR. Interment will follow at Little Rock National Cemetery. Family visitation will be Monday, July 12, 2010, 6-7 p.m., at Miles Memorial CME Church, 1804 E. Capitol Ave, Little Rock.
