Marion W. Lamb, 89, passed away July 10, 2010. He was born May 27, 1921 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Louise Lamb; sisters, Mary Alice Cole (Robert), JoAnn Smith (Buster) of Jacksonville, and Margaret Howard of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mabel Lamb, brother, Virgil Lamb (Mable), and sister, Ruth Lamb all of Jacksonville. Marion was a graduate of Jacksonville High School, and attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) before entering the Army in WWII where he served in the South Pacific with the 96th Infantry Division under General Douglas McArthur, landing at Leyte on October 20, 1944. The unit was awarded the Philippine Republic Presidential Citation with three battle stars for the period of October 20, 1944 – March 1, 1945. He began his career as a printer with the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway for five years and continued with the Arkansas Gazette for 35 more years. Marion was also a cattleman and member of the Cattleman's Association, past President of the Jacksonville Lion's Club and a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. The family would like to express thanks to the doctors and staff at Baptist Health Medical Center, caregiver Dorothy Johnson, and the caring friends of Parkway Village Little Rock. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. Entombment will follow a Chapel Hill Mausoleum.
