Jimmie Monroe Redick

Jimmie Monroe Redick, 84, of Conway, passed away on July 11, 2010. He was born in Benton, Ark., on January 24, 1926, the son of Octavia Dumas Redick and William Monroe Redick. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas Redick and Harold Redick and two sisters, Ercelle Jordan and Janie Moore. Jimmie spent his childhood in Norphlet, Ark. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. Later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After completion of his military service, he was employed by the railroad. Jimmie was a loyal railroad employee for 30 years, with Chicago as his home base. He was a kind man, with a smile for everyone. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Melissa Shock and Lynn Caldwell of Conway, Susan Moore of Newnan, Ga., Philip Moore of Fayetteville, Ark., Frank Redick of Arizona, Sherry Hooley of Utah, Lee, Carl and Joe Redick of Oklahoma, and Terry Jordan of England. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Interment will follow at Rehobeth Cemetery at 3 p.m. in El Dorado, Ark. Pallbearers will be Philip Moore, Lynn Caldwell, Matt Shock, Marc Shock, and Michael Shock.
