Phyllis Ann Gates McGarrah

Phyllis Ann Gates McGarrah of Sheridan, Arkansas was born December 29, 1956 at Pine Bluff, the daughter of Sid and Bonnie Hale Gates. She was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville and worked at UAMS as a medical coder in the Radiology department. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting and knitting but the absolute love of her life was making memories with, and spoiling her grandkids. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and "Nana". Phyllis died Monday, July 12, 2010 at UAMS at the age of 53. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willie and Allie Gates and Mason and Troy Hale; uncle, Bob Carter; and father-in-law, Fred McGarrah. Survivors: husband; Danny McGarrah; parents, Sid and Bonnie Hale Gates; son and daughter-in-law, Bart and Amy McGarrah; daughter and son-in-law, Leann and Leslie McTigrit; all of Sheridan; grandchildren: Corey, Brett, Cason, Hadyn, Dave, Harley and Rhyder; mother-in-law: Mattie McGarrah of Sheridan; aunts and uncles, Ann Carter of Sheridan, Dale and wife Vivian Hale of Pine Bluff and Max and Winona Gates of Clayton, Georgia; special cousins: Joanne, Connie, Julie, Steve, Tauna, Fonda, and Amy; and a dear friend, Angel. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Neal Pumphrey, Bro. Shawn Hill and Bro. Ron Harrington officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The UAMS Foundation Fund, 4301 W.
