Danny Doyle Hazelwood

Danny Doyle Hazelwood, age 61, of Little Rock , died Wednesday, June 14, 2010. He was born in Amarillo, Texas to the late Eugene Doyle Hazelwood and his mother Frances Laverne Johnson Hazelwood of Amarillo. Dan was a graduate of Amarillo High School before receiving his associate degrees in applied science and electric technology, from Amarillo College. While stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport where he was N.C.O.I.C. (non-commission officer in charge) at the Second Bomb Wing Command Post, he received his computer science degree from Louisiana State University. After leaving the military he and his wife Nancy who he married in 1968, moved back to Amarillo where he received his business degree from West Texas A&M College, and was employed with Southwest Public Service as a computer annalist for 24 years. In 2001 he and his family moved to Little Rock where he was presently working for Southwest Power Pool. Dan was an active participant in various electric utility technical advisory groups at a national level as a representative of Southwest Power Pool. Dan was an "O" narrow gauge model train enthusiast collecting numerous train cars over the years. His love of trains included riding them rather than flying whenever possible. He was involved with the Boy Scouts program with his son, loved canoeing on the Buffalo River with his friends, and being with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Loraine Williams Hazelwood of Little Rock, one daughter, Cynthia Loraine Hazelwood of Conway, Arkansas, one son, Nathaniel Doyle Hazelwood of Dallas, Texas, his mother, Frances Laverne Johnson Hazelwood of Amarillo, Texas, and two grandchildren, Adam Jordan Lopez, and Alexandria Elizabeth Combs, and his three dogs, Prissy, Tex, and Bonnie. There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m., Monday July 19, at the Ruebel Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
