Karen Scherm Owens

Karen Scherm Owens, 65, passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Karen was born March 13, 1945, to Herman and Georgia Raab Scherm. She was a graduate of Stuttgart High School, a homemaker and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Lynn Owens; and a grandson, Noah Owens. Survivors are her husband of 44 years, James Owens; son, Brian Owens of Little Rock; daughter, Stacy (Joe) Thompson of Cabot; brothers, Tommy (Fonda) Scherm of Ulm, Bobby (Mary) Scherm of Roe and Eddie (Ann) Scherm of Portland; sisters, Sherry (Joe) Hoffpauir of Stuttgart, Barbara (Larry) Smith of Viola and Janice (Vernon "Bo") Smith of Poplar Grove; and four grandchildren, Trey and Spencer Thompson, Drew Holiman and Chloe Owens. Funeral mass, officiated by Monsignor Jack Harris, is 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial following in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Rosary is 5 p.m. Sunday at Turpin Funeral Home with visitation following until 6:30 p.m. The family requests memorials to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
