Evalyn Kirkwood

Mrs. Evalyn Kirkwood, 89, of Searcy, Arkansas died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Byrd Haven Nursing Home in Searcy. Mrs. Kirkwood was born November 6, 1920 in West Line, Missouri. She was a resident of Searcy for the past seven years; a resident of Little Rock for many years and a former resident of Wilmot. She worked for 22 years with her husband, Norman Kirkwood, President of Wilmot State Bank and she was former member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Lake Enterprise Garden Club; she was on the board of two Little Rock Garden Clubs and served as State President 1975-1977. She was a Master Flower Show Judge and served on the National Board of NGC and the National Flower Show Committee. She taught flower arranging workshops and classes for many years, traveling from one end of the country to the other, making many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 ½ years, Norman Kirkwood; her parents, Horace & Cora Watkins Hill; a sister, Norene Windisch; two nephews, Bob & David Windisch; a niece, Lula Crisp and husband, JC, and a great-niece, Denise Pankey. She is survived by her caregiver, Mary Windisch of Searcy; a two nieces, Colene Chastain of Marvell and Melinda Windisch of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a step-daughter, Sue Berry; four step-grandchildren, Susan Winkler, Sara Ward, Paul & Norman Kirkwood all of DesArc and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in the Wilmot Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
