Billy Jack Marks, 70, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at his home in Hobbs, N.M. He was born December 23, 1939, in New Edinburg, Ark., to the late Victor Richardson Marks and Mamie Elizabeth Barnett Hall Marks. Jack worked in oil field well servicing for over 43 years. He enjoyed spoiling his little dog Missie, feeding hummingbirds, doves and squirrels and tinkering around the house. He lived his life with kindness, selflessness and touched the lives of so many. Above all, he was a beloved son, brother, husband, dad, papa and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Clyde and Ed Marks; his sisters, Hazel Vittitow and Wyona Colvin. He is survived by his wife, Edith Marks of Hobbs; daughter, Vickie (Andy) Gibbs of Hobbs; grandchildren, Hannah and Andrew Jack Gibbs of Hobbs; sisters, Elizabeth Barner of Clinton, Ark., Janette Whited of Whitehouse, Texas, and Helen Alesce of Hot Springs, Ark. Memorial services will be held in Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel in Hobbs, N.M., on Friday, July 30, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Brad Reimers officiating. Burial of the urn will follow.
