She was a volunteer for several agencies including Meals on Wheels. She served as president of the Arkansas Dental Auxiliary. During the crisis at Central High School, she was an active member of the Women's Emergency Committee to Open Our Schools. She had many faithful friends in her bridge clubs of 25 years. During her last years, as she became more housebound, she knit shawls for people in hospitals and nursing homes.
