Gary Morgan Lawrence, 59, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010. He was born April 2, 1951, in Portland, Maine, to Frank and Helen Lawrence. For over 20 years, Gary was employed with the Arkansas State Crime Lab beginning as a forensic criminalist and later as a fire arms expert. He served 11 ½ years in the U.S. Army first as a helicopter mechanic and then became a CID agent. His hobbies included hunting, ammunition reloading, teaching hunting education and concealed carry classes, and he was a life time member of the NRA. Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren. A very strong man, he was a wonderful husband and father and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Lawrence; two daughters, Pamela Martin and husband Mike of Benton, and Shelley Lawrence of Palm Springs, Calif.; his parents, Frank and Helen Lawrence of South Portland, Maine; three grandchildren, Samuel, Emily and Travis Martin; one brother, Dana Lawrence and wife Debbie of Portland, Maine; and two sisters, Deborah Moore and husband Craig of Saco, Maine, and Julie Curry and husband Scott of Sadieville, Ky. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander (501-455-1067). Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
