Jocie Lampton Blanton

Jocie Lampton Blanton of Russell died July 27, 2010. She was born October 27, 1916 to Clarence and Eva Day Lampton. She was a homemaker and domestic engineer. She worked in fields of cotton and strawberries and a large garden. She was Chief cook at Russell grade school. She was a long time member of Russell Methodist church serving as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, R.L. Blanton, three brothers and one sister. Surviving are two sons, Robert L. Blanton (Barbera) of Lyman, S.C. and Jerry Blanton (Lola) of Bald Knob, two brothers, Everett A.D. Lampton of Michigan, Jeff Lampton of Arkadelphia, Ark. and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 29, 2010 Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday July 30, 2010 at Russell Methodist church, Russell Ark. Interment will be in Carter Cemetery. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
