Carolyn Ward
Little Rock, AR, 1928 - 2010
Carolyn Ward, 81, of Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010. She was born September 1, 1928, in Bryan, Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles T. Ward; daughter, Vicki Ward Weisman of Little Rock; son, Charles T. Ward, Jr. of Little Rock; and grandson, Lane Burnett of Little Rock. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Dupree Fountain and Anna Mae Jones Fountain; and brother, Dupree Fountain, Jr.
Carolyn and Charlie were married in October 1946, and have been life-long residents of Little Rock. Carolyn was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. Her first job, at age 13, was working at Franke's Cafeteria with her mother and aunt. She worked for Southwestern Bell and also worked as a scrub nurse at the old Baptist Hospital. Carolyn became a licensed real estate agent in 1967, and a broker in 1984. When she was an agent with Faucett & Company, she suffered the improbable misfortune of losing her car in two separate accidents with large trucks that toppled over the guardrail and onto her vehicle. Carolyn and her business partner, J.L. Gibson, founded Ward Gibson Realtors in 1975. She was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club. She was Top Producer for Prudential McKay Properties Little Rock office in 1992 and 1993, and served as secretary, treasurer, vice-president and president of the Little Rock Board of Realtors during her distinguished career. The family would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful staff at Pleasant Valley Living Center for their care and kindness. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander (501-455-1067).
