Dorothy Johnson Pearce, 86 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born on July 28, 1923 in Village, Arkansas to the late Jacob Frolic and Nancy Annie Phillips Johnson. She grew up in Village where she graduated from high school in 1941 as the Valedictorian of her class. She earned her R.N. degree in 1944 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee and retired as a nursing supervisor from Magnolia City Hospital. She was a member of the Philadelphia United Methodist Church and the church quilting group. Recently she was a resident at Dudneywood where she continued her love of playing card games. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wesley Frank Pearce, one brother, Woodrow W. Johnson, and three sisters, Opaline Johnson Machen, Zelda Vivian Johnson, Quarie Ovinell Johnson Holly. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Larry Wesley Pearce and his wife Pam of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Ricky Lynn Pearce of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandsons, David Laurence Pearce of Boulder, Colorado, John Andrew Pearce of Honolulu, Hawaii; one sister, Gladys Azell Johnson Wilson of Magnolia, Arkansas; one brother, John Howard Johnson and his wife Loa Ann of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, June 4, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Philadelphia United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Family visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Philadelphia United Methodist Church, the Magnolia Regional Health Center Foundation, or charity of donor's choice. Pallbearers will be Martin Olin Machen, James Holly, Mark Johnson, Michael Langley, Jeffrey Machen, and Joseph Machen. www.lewisfuneralhome.biz.
