Johnny Ray Strickland

Johnny Ray Strickland, of Little Rock, Ark. died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Baptist Hospital. He was born June 19, 1933 in Tinsman, Ark., the son of Ethel Mae Price and James Hardy Strickland. He began his police officer career in Warren, Ark. A year later moved to Camden, Ark.spending six years with the police department. He then transferred to Monticello, Ark. after being accepted as an Arkansas State Trooper for two years. He spent the next nine years in Camden and was promoted to corporal with the State Police. He then changed professions as was a truck driver for many years before retiring in North Carolina. His love for music lead him to play drums in numerous bands throughout his life. He also enjoyed gardening,fishing, and hunting Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, four sisters, and his wife, Shirley Strickland. He has two surviving sisters; Martha Sue Mathews of Sulphur, Okla. and Evelyn Sharp of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Angela Moser (Willie) of Little Rock, Ark. and Sharon Rankin of Bentonville, Ark.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at Campground Cemetery, Tinsman, Ark. on June 19, 2010 at 2 p.m.
