James E. Shell, 89, died at his home in Hot Springs Village in Arkansas on Tuesday, June 1st. He was born on May 28, 1921 in Pine Buff and operated an electronics repair business in Pine Bluff for over 48 years. He was preceded in death by Margaret Benson Shell, his wife of 68 years, his parents, Eso and Kate Lee Toland Shell and his brother, Tommy Shell. He had lived in Hot Springs Village since 1978. He is survived by a son, Charles Shell, of Seattle, Washington. His career spanned radio, the introduction of both black and white and color TV, video recorders and cameras, and stereophonic sound. Self taught, Mr. Shell took pride in keeping up with the latest developments as the technology changed from vacuum tubes through transistors, printed circuit boards to digital disks. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 8th, at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village. His ashes will be interred in the Church's Memorial Garden following the service.
