Lillian Bost Reutz

Lillian Bost Reutz was born to John Albert and Ollie Longcrier Bost in Cleveland, Arkansas on Feb. 1, 1917. For the past 30 years she has lived in Austin, Texas. She led a very active life as an artist, author, nurse and community volunteer until her passing to the next life on May 19, 2010. In Arkansas she was an early member of the Home Demonstration Club at Mabelvale, outside Little Rock (site of the Reutz farm), a volunteer with the American Red Cross, very active with the League of Women Voters, and a reader for the Lion's Club Regional School for the Blind, a training facility for the newly blind from the all over the world. In Austin she was involved in the Marshall Ford Home Demonstration Club and the Austin Garden Club. She and Archie Strayton, Ph.D. became good friends and volunteers for the Senior Citizen Center sharing their love for education and assisting widows and widowers. Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore Anderson Reutz, Sr., a builder in Little Rock, as well as by her sisters, Scottie and Lois, and her brother Everett. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Reutz Evans and husband John of Grand Junction, Colorado, her son Theodore Anderson Reutz, Jr., Ph.D. and his wife Jacqlynne (Balven Hart) of Austin, and by her brother Roger Bost and family of Palos Verdes, Calif. She is also survived by two biological grandchildren, Greg Campbell and wife Cheryl and their two children, Geoffrey and Whitney of Little Rock, and granddaughter Zoe Reutz, of Chicago. In addition, five step-grandchildren survive her on John Evans's side of the family and step-grandchildren on Jacqlynne Reutz's side, Bretton Holmes, and his two daughters, Trinity and Alexandria, and step-grandson, Ethan Holmes of Austin. The transition to the next life of Mrs. Reutz was made more loving, comfortable, and natural by the excellent staff of The Summit at Lakeway and by Hospice Austin. A short celebration of Lillian's life will be held on Sunday June 6th at 6 p.m. at Martin Cemetery, Mabelvale (I-30 W to Highway Dept Exit, Sibley Hole Rd) where Lillian's ashes will be buried next to her husband. Bill Leggett, Lay Minister of Lake Valley Community Church, Hot Springs will conduct the brief memorial. All who knew Lillian are invited.
