Fordyce, AR, 1931 - 2010Jackie W. Crowder, 79 of Fordyce, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at his home. He was born Jan. 25, 1931 in New Edinburg, Ark. to the late L.W. "Jack" Crowder and Agnes Tipton Crowder. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Crowder. Mr. Crowder had served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the original Fordyce City Park Commission, president of the Lions Club and deacon chairman at the First Baptist Church of Fordyce. He served as a high school football official and coached Little League baseball and Pee-Wee basketball. He retired after 20 years as Dallas County Treasurer and 42 years as an agent for State Farm Insurance Company. Mr. Crowder was totally dedicated to the study and teaching of the Scriptures and passing the love of Biblical truths to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo Horne Crowder of Fordyce; one son, Paul W. Crowder and wife Faye of Camden; one daughter, Carol Veneman and husband Jimmy of Jackson, Tenn.; grandchildren, Caleb Shaw of Camden, Justin and Ashley Veneman of Cordova, Tenn., Andrew and Erin Gray of Jackson, Tenn., and Nathan and Amanda Veneman of Nashville, Tenn. Memorial services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Fordyce. A viewing will be Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
