DAVID KENNETH "KEN" DORRELL, 68, of North Little Rock, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Springhill Baptist Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born Oct. 1, 1941 in England, Ark. to Loey William and Jesse Eulean Epperson Dorrell, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Delford, Raymond and Jimmy. A former surveyor for the Corps of Engineers, he settled in Little Rock as owner and operator of several full-service gas stations in 1970. His lifelong pursuit of knowledge included computer programming, memory improvement and countless hours of genealogical research. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda Lemons Dorrell; children, Rene (Scott) Bader of Springdale, Brenda (Carl) Bryant of Georgia, Cynthia (Bobby) Lockert of Mabelvale and David Dorrell II of North Little Rock; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, L. E. (Emmy) Dorrell of Little Rock and Dennis (Carolyn) Dorrell of Alexander; many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 6, at the England Senior Citizens Community Center. Memorials may be made to The Arkansas State Library Services for the Blind.
