Fred R. Bollen

Fred. R. Bollen, 87, died at home in Conway, Ark. on Friday, June 4, 2010. He was born July 9, 1922 in Lono, Ark. to Fred Monroe Bollen and Jessie Eva Johnson Bollen. Dr. Bollen graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School and practiced dentistry for 39 years in Little Rock. He was a member of the Arkansas State Dental Association where he served as president and secretary. He was a member of the American Dental Association and served in the House of Delegates for 13 years. He was also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Fred served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Conway. For years he was a member of Pleasant Valley Country Club where he could be seen most Saturdays, and Thursday and Sunday afternoons on the golf course. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, Nina Owen Bollen and his son Fred R. (Russ) Bollen Jr. He's survived by Russ' wife Linda Bollen, of Tampa, Fla. and grandsons Steven of Pensacola, Florida and David, also of Tampa. He's survived by his daughter Suzette Brawner and her husband Jim, of Hollister, Mo.; grandsons Jason Brawner and wife Alison, of Springfield, Mo., Dr. Travis Brawner and wife Kari, of Branson, Mo.; and granddaughter Jill Brawner Jones and husband David, of Richmond, Va. He left seven great-grandchildren: Jackson, Mollie Jane, and Smith Brawner, Jameson, Owen, and Kaylin Brawner and Vivian Jones. Survivors also include his sister Virginia Treadwell and husband Murl, of Solgohachia, Ark., his brother Lindy Bollen and wife Bettye, of Little Rock, and his sister Patricia Ford and husband Gordon, of Sulfur Springs, Texas and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at Griffin Leggett-Conway. Burial and graveside service will be held Thursday, June 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock and at 2 p.m. a memorial service will be held at Griffin Leggett-Conway.
