Madelyn Berry Beard

Madelyn Berry Beard, age 90, formerly of Yellville, Ark. passed away June 7, 2010 in North Richland Hills, Texas. She was born in Yellville on March 22, 1920 to Fred and Velma Berry. She attended Arkansas State Teacher's College (UCA in Conway) and Texas Women's University in Denton Texas. Madelyn married William Edward Beard on Jan. 20, 1945 in New Orleans,where Bill was stationed. Madelyn retired from the Arkansas Department of Health in 1985. She was an avid Razorback fan. She was a member and pillar of St. Paul UMC for 57 years and a proud participant of the Stained Glass Windows project. She was preceded by her husband, parents, sister, and graddaughter, Stephanie Bailey. She is survived by her loving family: daughters, Judy Briley and husband Steve, Jana Leming and husband Eric; granddaughters, Jennifer Beard Briley Code and husband Alistair, Jordan Berry Lerning Trammell and husband Will, and Ellis Dale Leming; and great-granddaughter, Evynn Dale Trammell, all of the Fort Worth area; niece Susan Berry Wendel and husband, Dick of Yellville and their family; and half-brother, Fred Berry of Yellville. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Layton Cemetery in Yellville. A memorial service will be held in Little Rock at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul UMC, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.
