Lillilan L. "Mickey" Tanner Glaeser

Lillian L. "Mickey" Tanner Glaeser Born in Amity, Arkansas on June 21, 1936, to Lester Milton and Edith Dillard Tanner, died June 8, 2010 at St. Joseph's Inpatient Hospice. The middle child of 11, she was predeceased by five brothers – Jimmy, Gene, Maurice, Lynn and Joe Tanner; and three sisters, Margaret Tanner Womack, Ernestine Tanner Dicus, and Dorothy Tanner Hall. She is survived by husband, W.B. "Joe" Glaeser; daughter, Erica Glaeser Jones; son, Major Joseph B. "Joe" Glaeser and wife Shanna, U.S. Army; grandsons, Randall Eric Glaeser, Ellis Jones, and Harrison Glaeser; and granddaughters, Grace Jones and Lillian Jean Glaeser; and many nieces and nephews. She graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Following graduation, she served three years as an officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps., receiving additional medical training at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. As a First Lieutenant, she served a tour of duty at Zama Army Hospital, Japan, where she met her future husband, Joe, who was on assignment with a U.S. Government Agency. An accomplished singer, she won preliminary All-Army talent competitions in Japan and in Hawaii and represented The Pacific Theater in the World-Wide All-Army competitions at Ft. Belvoir, just outside of Washington, D.C. She was honorably discharged from the Army in 1962, after which she married and settled down in the suburban Maryland/Washington, D.C area, where she sang professionally in a number of assorted venues and also did some nursing. After her husband's 1980 retirement, the family moved to Hot Springs. Mickey went to work at St. Joseph's Hospital and finished her nursing career with twelve years at the Hot Springs Arkansas Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, June 11, 2010 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
