Jeanette E. "Jean" Green, of Benton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend died on June 12, 2010. Born Nov. 27, 1921 in McGhee, Ark. to the late W.A. "Bud" and Evelyn Chenault Moss. During her early childhood the family moved to Ft. Smith. During World War II Jean served in the Women's Army Corp and afterwards while attending Eton's Barber and Beauty College in Little Rock met her future husband and love of her life, Virgle. Jean was a faithful member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and for many of those years helped to coordinate the numerous dinners at the church. Volunteering was a way of life for Jean from her church to her children's school activities. She received the Lion's Club award for her contribution and dedicated service above and beyond for the years 1973- 1976. Jean loved her family and friends often entertaining them with her southern hospitality and fabulous cooking. She loved to play cards with friends, travel, fish, square dance and was always, quietly helping those in need. Jean's beautiful smile, strength, courage and her unending love to all will be remembered and missed by her family and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Howard F. Moss and Bill Moss, son Freddie Virgle "Rusty" Green. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Virgle Green, daughters Jan G. Snider (Ted L. "Dub") of Little Rock, Tonya G. Morgan (Jody) of Benton, Kimberlee J. Autry (Alan) of Fresno, Calif.; son Bill Moss (Betty) of Ft. Smith, sisters, Marie Whitt (Aubrey) of North Little Rock, Helen Rye of Scottsdale, AZ. Grandchildren, Parker Green Snider, Trevor Cain, Chloe Jean and Lucy Morgan, Heather Abelbeck, Austin Autry, Brent Moss and Brandee Moss. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nina Colvin for her unfailing dedication, love and care for the past four years. Also thanks to Elizabeth Jones, Aretha Roddy and Donna Nowden, Angela Thomas and Marilyn, and Joanna Honnebrink for their care and help and to the Parkway Health Center nursing staff. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 16 at Sharon Missionary Baptist Church at 2 p.m., 402 Shenandoah Drive, Benton. Burial will be at Fowler Cemetery in Paron. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 15 at Ashby Funeral Home from 6 p.m.–8 p.m., 108 West Narroway St., Benton.
