Mattie Louise Pace Cohen

Mattie Louise Pace Cohen was born Feb. 7, 1930, to the late Deacon Henry and Annie Pace in North Little Rock, Ark. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie Cohen Sr.; brother, Henry Pace Jr.; sister, Naomi Phillips; and brother, Harry Lewis Pace. She departed his life June 3, 2010 in Mechanicsville, Va. Mattie was reared in the Marche Community and graduated from Dunbar High School in Little Rock, Ark. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Trinity Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marche were she was a faithful member of "Inspirational Choir" for over 50 years. She was a homemaker, seamstress community spokesperson and friend to many. She loved her family dearly and was a loyal friend. Mattie was united in marriage to the late Bennie Cohen. She leaves to mourn her memory, sons, Larry Pace, Jerry Stubbs (Marsha), Bennie Cohen, Edwin Cohen, Bryan Cohen (Carla), Sheldon Cohen; and daughters, Carla Heard (Myron) and Candace Pace; sisters, Ruth Moton, Ceretha Smith, Essie Coffee, Earnestine Irby and Joyce Sewell; sisters-in-law, Sadie Pace, Maxine Pace and Helen Cohen; aunts, Odessa Pace, Lovie Pace, Helen Pace and Flora Perkins; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and a host of relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Grove Baptist Church, Saturday, June 19, at 12 noon. Rev. Carl Jackson, Pastor. Local arrangements by Watson Northcrest Funeral Home.
