Sibyl Brockman Brown

Sibyl Brockman Brown, 89, of Star City, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 in Newport. She was born April 16, 1921 in Star City to the late John Aubrey and Ollie Nobles Brockman. She was a retired teacher at Star City High School and a member of First Baptist Church. She loved cooking and taking care of her family. She was known by all that loved her as "Toots." Also preceding her in death was her husband, James "Jimmy" Brown. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Mike Brown and wife Pat of Newport and Rev. John Brown and wife Claudia of Malawi, Africa; sisters, Margaret Garner of Hot Springs and Judith Harvey of Star City; five grandchildren; Casey Brown, Mandy Quick, Heather Weaver, Jason Brown and Josh Brown; and one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank special friends; Betty Carolyn Martindale, Patsy Jordan, Velma Pruitt and the Mark Spence Family. Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church in Star City with Bro. Don Cooper officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church Saturday. Burial will be in Leek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Skipper Burns, Mark Spence, Barry Boren, Johnny McGraw, Charles Martindale, Mike Fuqua and Chuck Copeland. Honorary Pallbearers are B.F. McGraw, Sonny Cogbill, Steve Lovett, Jackie Jordan, Major Gerald Wright and Dalda Womack. Memorials may be made to the Jimmy and Sibyl Brown Scholarship Fund @ the Bank of Star City, P.O.
