Nancy Carolyn Drake

Mrs. Nancy Carolyn Drake, 71, of Hope, Ark. passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 in Texarkana, Texas. Mrs. Drake was born in Hope, Ark. on Oct. 5, 1938 to Garrett and Pauline Allen Story Jr. She worked as a teacher for the Hope Independent School District for thirty two years. Mrs. Drake was very active in the community and with her church, where she sang with the First Baptist Church of Hope Choir for forty eight years and also worked in the nursery and taught Sunday school. She also sang with the Hope Community Choir for several years and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Drake of Hope, Ark..; two sons, Stephen Jerome Drake and wife Becki of Austin, Texas, and John Douglas Drake and wife Kathy of Broken Bow, Okla..; two brothers, Paul Story and wife Susan of Camden, Ark., and Russell Story and wife Diana of Bend, Ore.; one sister, Pam Elam and husband Ray of Sulpher Springs, Texas; five grandchildren, Gretchen Booth, Jonathan Edwards, Charlie Drake, Judd Drake and Landen McIntyre; one great-granddaughter, Kaylynn Nicole Drake and many extended family members and a host of friends. Visitation will be Sunday, June 20, 2010 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. Services will be Monday, June 21, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hope with Bro. Earl Cumbie and Bro. Mark Fischer officiating with interment to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Hope, Ark. under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
