Patricia A. Cockram

Patricia A. Cockram, 67, of Jackson Heights, N.Y., died June 13, 2010, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, N.Y. An Associate Professor of English at Lehman College, she earned her PhD at the Graduate School and University Center, City University of New York, in 1999, published widely, and was a respected Ezra Pound scholar. Prior to entering academia, she had a distinguished career in fashion, working as an executive at Perry Ellis, Liz Claiborne, Saks, Macy's, and Barneys. Fluent in Italian and French, Pati traveled widely in Europe throughout her life and was an avid lover of the arts. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Cockram; a beloved aunt, Helene Small; and brother-in-law, Clyde Randall. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Cockram, of Fayetteville; siblings Kathleen Randall, Peter and Jeri Cockram, Chris and Les Kline, Tim and Connie Cockram, Michael Cockram and Susan Shore; cousins Claire Small and Paul Vella; stepmother, Mari Zee Cockram; sisters-in-law, Mary Cockram and Tomoko Sekiguchi; nine nieces and nephews; a grandniece and grandnephew; and a host of other relatives, dear friends, and colleagues who cherish her memory. A memorial service will be announced. In the interim, memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Patient Assistance Fund at www.mskcc.org.
