Howard W. James, 84, of Tumbling Shoals died Monday. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater on the aircraft carrier USS Salamaua. He was a licensed electrician and HVAC for 60 years and retired from Little Rock Air Force Base as a civil engineer. Upon retirement he worked for 15 years for Powers of Arkansas. Survivors include his wife, Verneal James; sons, David James and Danny James; brother, J.C. James; grandchildren, Amanda James, Andrew James; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Thursday at Tumbling Shoals Baptist Church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Cemetery in Sherwood.
