Jesse James McDaniel

The nation lost a patriot when Jesse James McDaniel, Senior Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force (retired), of Cabot, passed away Nov. 1, 2010. He was born in the Cookson Hills of Oklahoma in 1925. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, where he served our country in combat through World War II, Korea and Vietnam and retired after 32 years of faithful, honorable service in 1975. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation and other commendations and service awards. He spent his retired life traveling, gardening and improving his home. He was preceded in death by his son, Staff Sergeant Timothy McDaniel, U.S. Army, and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maggie; son, Major Arvie McDaniel, U.S. Army; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
