Ms. JIMMYE LEE COMPTON-NATION of Little Rock, Ark., was born Feb. 28, 1936, in Parkdale, Ark., to the late Temerdis Brown and Isaac Brown Sr. She moved to Little Rock, Ark., joined in fellowship with First Baptist Church 9th and Calhoun Street, LR. She remained faithful to her faith. She loved attending church, singing in the choir as lead singer. She would gather children together and conduct bible study classes in her backyard with cheese and crackers for snacks. She graduated from Little Rock Vocational School, later changed to Pulaski Technical College, Practical Nurse Division of Little Rock, Ark., where she was certified in Practical Nursing. She later passed the State Board test securing her LPN license. Jimmye assisted many other women in securing their LPN license. She also attended Draughon School of Business. She retired from nursing, later coming out of retirement to teach classes at Allied College of Technical Sciences continuing to help others in the educational endeavors. Jimmye was the "nurse" of the community, always taking care of others. She was grateful to provide care for her father, mother and one of her sons during their illnesses. She is loved and will be sorely missed. After 74 years of life, giving her loved ones and friends all the love she could, she was called home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010. To cherish her home going she leaves Billye Brown (Angela), Perry Cole (Lucretia), Michael Cole and Jacquelyn - McDonald (A.J.); her sisters, Katherine Kelly (Andrew), Clarence Brown, Dorothy Walker, Deloyse Dolphus, Shawana Brown; and a special cousin, Ruthie Ann with a host of other cousins. She was preceded in death by four sons, Don Brown, Terry Cole, Tommy Cole and Author Wesley; two daughters, Jacquelyn Cole and Sherry Cole; two brothers, Lonnie Brown and Isaac Brown Jr., 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones. The Family Hour will be Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, 6-7 p.m., at Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock, Ark. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, 11 a.m., at First Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2801 South Spring Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72206, Herschel Lovelace Sr., officiating.
