GERTRUDE CATHERINE WALLEY, 88, of Jacksonville died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010. She was born Oct. 26, 1922 in Scranton, Ark., to the late Bernard "Ben" and Mary Josephine Noll Meyer. She was a member of Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was very involved, and retired from Franklin Electric after 16 years. Mrs. Walley also worked in the Base Exchange on several Air Force bases while her husband was in the Air Force. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walley was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Walley in July as well as her brothers and sisters; Annie, Lawrence, Louise, Antoine, Martha and Beatrice. Mrs. Walley is survived by her children Cathy Thurman of Shawnee, Kan., Dale A. Walley and his wife Kathryn of Tom Ball, Texas, and Robert V. Walley of Jacksonville as well as a sister, Margaret Rector of Ky., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Andy Smith officiating with entombment to follow in Chapel Oaks Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Arrangements are by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501)982-2136.
