William "Bill" Owens, 84, of Steve, Arkansas, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at his home. The son of Claude and Maude Howard Owens, he was born February 17, 1926 in Kingston, Arkansas. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. On June 22, 1946 upon returning from the war Bill married Edith Cox. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working as a carrier for 21 years. He was a member of the Plainview VFW and the National Letter Carriers. Bill loved animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bernice Robertson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Edith Cox Owens of Steve, Arkansas; son, Dr. Bill Owens & wife Lyn of North Little Rock; one brother, Clayton Owens of Newbern, Tenn. Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Nooner Cemetery in Hollis. Reverend Jimmy Scott will officiate. Burial will follow by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Tuesday, at Nooner Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonial Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas. 72210.
