Dr. Charles F. Wells, 83, longtime Morrilton family physician passed away Monday, November 8th, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Morrilton. One of two children in the family of Douglas and Jewel Wells, he was born on December 19, 1927 in Little Rock. Dr. Wells was a graduate of Little Rock High School and Hendrix College in Conway. His medical career began as a 1954 graduate from the University of Arkansas School Of Medicine; postgraduate training at the Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana and in 1956 entered private medical practice. During his tenure as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at St. Anthony's Hospital, Dr. Wells was instrumental in the tutorship of senior medical students. Throughout his career, he maintained membership in the American Medical Association and the Arkansas Medical Society. In the US Army - Air Force he received certification as a weather technician, serving enlistment at Kindley Field, Bermuda. Dr. Wells was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, a licensed pilot, dedicated conservationist and enjoyed traveling around the world. He treasured the blessings of his own family and the patients who entrusted their medical care to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Douglas Wells, Jr., and wife, Donna Rose Wells. He is survived by daughters, Melanie Wells of Morrilton, Dixie Bahma and husband, Mike of Stillwater Minn., nieces, Miranda Oswald, Paige Oswald both of Florida, grandchildren, Tiffany and her husband, Josh, Scarlett, Hannah, great grandchildren, Joseph and Jeremiah. Visitation, 6-8 PM Thursday, services, 10 a.m., Friday, November 12th at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrilton, interment, Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock.
