Vivian Ruth Cook Johnson, age 90, a lifelong resident of Mena, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center, Arkadelphia. She was born November 13, 1919, in Mena, Arkansas to the late G. H. and Frankie Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bess Paris; four brothers-Charles B. Cook, Gilbert H. Cook, Earl W. Cook, and Archie J. Cook. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mena where she served in the nursery for many years and was deemed "Baby Johnson" by the children whom she cared for. Vivian is survived by two daughters-Vivian Henderson and husband David of Little Rock and Freddie Jolley and husband Woody of Arkadelphia; three grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Meem Meem", Susan Hickingbotham and husband Herren, Little Rock; Melissa Pate and husband Grant, Tupelo, Mississippi; and Ted Jolley and wife Lori, Little Rock; and six great-grandchildren, Hayden and Christian Hickingbotham; Katherine and Emily Pate; Lucy and Piper Jolley. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, at First United Methodist Church, Mena, at 1 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the church at 2 p.m. with Reverend Gary Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park, Mena, Arkansas. There will be general viewing at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Nursery, 501Ninth Street, Mena, Ark. 71953 or the charity of one's choice.
