Wynetta Jean Gipson

Wynetta Jean Gipson of Searcy lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, November 13, 2010. Preceding her in death are her parents, Walter and Ruth Froman of Brinkley, Arkansas; her husband, LJ Gipson of Brinkley, Arkansas; and her brother, Leroy Froman of Searcy. She is survived by her son, Jerry Gipson of Bald Knob and her daughters, Julie Hutcheson of Lepanto and Patti Reeves of Benton. Her grandchildren are Eric and Cody Hutchison, Amanda Wright, Jennifer Sherman and Jeremy Welch. Great-grandchildren are Hailey and Emily Sherman, Drew and Evan Hutcheson and Jacque and Gabriel Rice. Ms. Gipson is also survived by her special friend, Mr. Ralph Worley of Searcy; sisters-in-law, Gay Jordan of Bauxite, Billie Jones of Bismarck, Joyce Stewart of Stuttgart, Nancy Froman of Rogers and a brother-in-law, Charles Gipson of Hot Springs. Wynetta Jean Froman was born on July 7, 1933 in Hunter, Arkansas. She married LJ Gipson in 1951 and lived in Brinkley for many years. After his death in 1964 she and her children moved to Conway where she earned her BSEd degree at the University of Central Arkansas. She was employed by the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service as a home economist for 26 Years, working in White, Jackson and Crittenden counties. While working in these counties she earned a MSE degree from the University of Arkansas. After retiring in 1994, she moved to Searcy to be near her brother, Judge Leroy Froman and his wife Nancy. Ms. Gipson was an active member of the Searcy First Assembly of God Church. She was also active in the White County Medical Center Auxiliary, White County Creative Writers and Searcy Arts Council. Ms. Gipson was a charter member of the Delta Artists Society in West Memphis. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Searcy. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Friday at Oaklawn Cemetery in Brinkley.
