Basil Harold "Smokey" Stacks of Little Rock, Ark., who was preceded in death by Gloria Z. Stacks, his wife of 55 years, son of the late Elijah Nathan Stacks and Ruby Savannah Stacks of Little Rock, AR, passed away the evening of Saturday, November 13, 2010, as a result of a massive heart attack he suffered on November 1, 2010. He was born on January 19, 1922 in England, Ark. He is survived by a brother, Norman Wayne Stacks of Little Rock, a daughter, Rachel Lynn Stacks of Benton, a son, Ronald Robert Stacks of Midland, Texas, four grandchildren, Sgt. Christina M. Stacks Hughs of Tacoma, Wash., Candice R. Stacks of St. Petersburg, Fla., Crystal L. Stacks Graham of Guy, Ark. and Gregory Stacks of Houston, Texas, six great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Stacks retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company the last day of 1983 with nearly 41 years of service. The last 12 years he was assigned to the Federal Building and US courts building in downtown Little Rock. After his retirement from Southwestern Bell, he contracted with several federal agencies for six years working on phone systems. He spent much of his spare time with his family, spending many summers on Lake Ouachita with family and friends on his houseboat. Graveside service will be held at Pine Crest Memorial Park, Hwy. 5, Saline County, on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark.
