Mary Anna Jones, 86, of Cherokee Village, Arkansas died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born March 23, 1924 in Springdale, Arkansas to Dr. Nolan Helstern and Mae Ruble Helstern. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. and worked in Bentonville, Arkansas as a Realtor with her husband of more than 55 years, Robert L. ("Bob") Jones. However, her true love was painting. A successful artist whose work was featured in local galleries, she was especially well known for the paintings she did representing each county in Northwest Arkansas, which were comprised of historical buildings, famous landmarks and the beautiful scenery of each county. Prints of these paintings were hung in the local schools and other locations. Additionally, she loved gardening outside, doing crossword puzzles and watching Gone with the Wind with her granddaughter. Mary Anna is survived by her daughter, Lauriel Jones Howard of St. Charles, Missouri; her granddaughter, Heather Brooke Garrett Siegel of Nashville, Tennessee, and her cousin, Dr. Ernest L. Fox of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Jones, on January 18, 2001, by her daughter, Melissa Jones Bokker on November 19, 2009, and by her parents. Committal services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Paul Bokker officiating.
