Gladys Marie Lindsey Cook

Gladys Marie Lindsey Cook, 84, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 29, 1925 in Spencer, La., daughter of J.L. and Mattie Simon Lindsey. Mrs. Cook was reared and received her early education in Monticello and Pine Bluff. She was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Mission Friends and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Cook enjoyed handcrafts, needlework and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Annie Helen Atkinson, Alberta Burris, Annie Marie Moore and Clara Ringo. Survivors include her husband, Steve Cook, whom she married Feb. 14, 1948 in Pine Bluff; two daughters, Brenda Joyce Cook Bates and her husband, Jerry, of Star City and Beverly Ann Boyd and her husband, Roy, of Rison; two sons, Steve R. Cook of Walnut Ridge and Rodney Keith Cook of Pine Bluff; sister, Inez Marshall of Little Rock; five grandchildren, Ann Marie Massey, Leigh Boyd, Payton Robbins, Michella Cook and Joshua Cook; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend James Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Drake Cemetery in Star City.
