Mildred "Mimi" Dixon Gillespie

Mildred "Mimi" Dixon Gillespie, 79, of Fullerton, Calif., passed peacefully at her home, on Nov. 15, 2010, one day before her 80th birthday. Her children were by her side. Gene Gillespie of Fullerton, Calif., Gerry Gillespie of Lexington, Ky., and Lucy Moran of Louisville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; parents Edgar and Lucy Dixon and brother Philip Dixon. She is survived by her sister Barbara Bevels and three grandchildren Lindsay, Cory and Alexandra. Other than her children her greatest joy in life was helping others – volunteering for various organizations, culminating in 32 years of service in the St. Jude Guild. Prior to moving to California and after receiving her masters degree she was a high school English teacher. She was a proud alumnus of the University of Arkansas and a very active member of the Fullerton First United Methodist Church. Her grace, strength and compassion will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Visitation will be at McAulay & Wallace in Fullerton, Calif. on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the same location of Friday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in her birthplace of Little Rock, Ark. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park.
