Walter Kelly Pinson

Kelly Pinson, 90, of Bend, Ore., formerly of North Little Rock, died peacefully Friday, Nov. 12, 2010. Born Walter Kelly Pinson Dec. 4, 1919 in Wattensaw (rural Lonoke County), to Walter and Era Lowe Pinson. On March 31, 1944, he married Nell Gresham in Lonoke and made their home in Carlisle where he was employed as a hazardous material truck driver and later relocated his family to North Little Rock. After retirement from Enron Corporation, he opened Express Personnel in Pine Bluff. In 1999, Kelly and Nell retired to Bend, Ore. to be near their daughters. Kelly was a strong Christian whose faith sustained him throughout his life. He was an active member and served as chairman of the ushers at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 30 years. After relocating to Oregon, he was a deacon at Riverwoods Baptist Church in Bend. At the time of his death, he was a beloved member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Bend. The focus of Kelly's life was his church and his family. In later life, he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Nell, which included a meaningful trip to the Holy Land as they cruised the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. A devoted and loving father who will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. Kelly is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Austin Smith, and daughter Betty Pinson, all of Bend, Ore.. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at Hebron Cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to service.
