Troy Samuel "Papa" Burgess

Troy Samuel "Papa" Burgess, 91, was able to go to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, November 21, 2010. Troy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alice Burgess, 18 brothers and sisters, and his wife of 66 years, Mary Elizabeth Burgess. He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Moore and husband Ben, Sandra Pawlowski and husband Jimmie, and Deborah Roark, four grandchildren, Monte Moore and wife Mitzi, Melanie Hassen and husband Randy, Stacy Pawlowski, and Courtney Reed and husband Nick, and five great-grandchildren, Hunter Moore, Holton Moore, Kate Hassen, Karly Hassen, and Samuel Reed. Troy was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from the Little Rock Fire Department as District Chief with 42 years of service. Troy was a charter member of Roberson Baptist Church. He loved woodworking and being outside doing anything. His family was the light of his life and he loved spending time with his family laughing and loving. Those that had the privilege to be around him were always greeted with a smile and a "Y' all alright?". His love for God and all of the people around him was apparent in everything that he did. His personality could shine through anywhere. The visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, November 23 from 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 24 at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
