Bill J. McWhirt

Bill J. McWhirt, 68, of Ward, Arkansas died Tuesday November 23, 2010. He was born April 27, 1942, to the late Harry and Helen Patricia Bendure McWhirt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa McWhirt. Bill was a volunteer fireman in Kansas for 10 years. He worked as a car man for Katy Railroad in Parsons, Kansas and went on to work for Union Pacific for 37 years. He was a member of Faith Christian Center Church in Jacksonville and enjoyed woodworking, "playing in the dirt" as a farmer, raising cattle and coaching children in various sports. Bill was an exemplarly husband and father. He is survived by his wife Wanda McWhirt, of Ward; five children, Michael McWhirt, of Pittsburg, Kansas, Sherri Cole (Ed), of Chanute, Kansas, Patrick McWhirt (Lauri), of Springfield, Missouri, Troy Mornoski McWhirt, of Ward and Terrence McWhirt, of Webb City, Missouri; one sister Jan Harding (Doug), of Erie, Kansas; two brothers, Don McWhirt (Dawn), of Lowndesboro, Alabama and Bob McWhirt (Linda), of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Amanda Bancroft, Trentton Collins, Ashleigh Whetzell (Duke Turner), Chloe McWhirt, Ian McWhirt, Naomi Mornoski and Wyatt Mornoski, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at Faith Christian Center Church in Jacksonville with Pastor Gene Gilliam officiating.
