Carthel Lynn Wisely of Sheridan, Ark. was born March 3, 1933 at Sheridan, the son of the late Elmer and Laura Newell Wisely. Mr. Wisely was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan and was a 1953 graduate of Sheridan High School, during which time he was co-captain of the Sheridan Yellowjacket football team. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Wisely retired from International Paper Company on March 1, 1995 after 37 years of dedicated service. He loved to hunt, fish, raise a garden, and was an avid carpenter. "Poppy" loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Wisely passed away November 26, 2010 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 77. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers: Harlan, Glen, Carl, Thurman, Macil, and Odis Wisely; sisters: Willene Morgan and Reba Winston. Survivors include his wife and best friend of 51 years: Ruby Jean Lewis Wisely of the home; sons, Mark Wisely of Little Rock and Michael Wisely of Pine Bluff; daughter, Karen and husband Chris Palmer of Sheridan. Granddaughters: Candice and husband Shannon Knight of Pine Bluff, Jade Ross of Sheridan, Sara and husband Chris Mangrum of Prattsville, and Crystal and husband Ryan Eakin of Scott; three great-grandchildren, Eden, Ava, and Carter; as well as many nieces, nephews and a large host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Kenneth Click officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 1403 West Center Street, Sheridan, Ark. 72150.
